St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Doug McDermott became the leading scorer in
Creighton history, as the top-seeded Bluejays beat the Drake Bulldogs, 65-53,
in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference.
McDermott had 23 points and seven rebounds for Creighton (25-7), which will
play the Evansville-Indiana State winner in Saturday's semifinals.
A made free throw with 4:43 left in the first half, gave McDermott 2,117
career points, passing Rodney Buford's school record that he set in 1999.
Gregory Echenique finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks for the
Bluejays.
Richard Carter paced Drake (15-17) with 14 points.
