Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Daniel Mullings scored a game-high 23 points
as the New Mexico State Aggies ended Louisiana Tech's Division I leading
winning streak with a 78-60 victory over the Bulldogs in Western Athletic
Conference action at the Pan American Center.
Mullings also had eight rebounds for the Aggies (20-10, 13-4 WAC). Tyrone
Watson recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. Bandja Sy
chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds. Terrel de Rouen added 10 points off
the bench as NMSU won for the second time in the last three games.
The Bulldogs (26-4, 16-1) had won 18-straight games entering play. Raheem
Appleby put up a team-high 13 points and Alex Hamilton added 11 points off the
bench.
In the first half , both teams made 14 shots from the floor. NMSU
outscored Louisiana Tech 13-2 in made free-throws, en route to the 43-34
advantage at the break.
In the second, Louisiana Tech was held to a mere 10-of-28 on field goal
attempts, while NMSU knocked down 15-of-24.
NMSU controlled the boards, 40-26, and points in the paint, 38-20.
