College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Tianna Hawkins scored 18 points and
grabbed 11 rebounds and Alyssa Thomas chipped in 16 points as No. 9 Maryland
snapped a two-game skid by defeating Wake Forest, 88-61, on Sunday.
Sequoia Austin donated 15 points and Alicia DeVaughn had 14 to go along with
seven rebounds for the Terrapins (23-6, 14-4 ACC), who were coming off back-
to-back losses versus Duke and Florida State. Maryland also earned a first-
round bye in the upcoming conference tournament.
Sandra Garcia and Patrice Johnson each had 10 points for Wake Forest (12-18,
5-13) which has dropped 14 straight in the series.
Maryland led 38-22 at the break and its advantage grew to a 54-30 margin
early in the second half on Hawkins' triple before the Terrapins cruised to
the win.
