Manhattan, NY (Sports Network) - Tucker Halpern nailed a 3-pointer as time
expired to lift the Brown Bears sneaked by the Columbia Lions, 61-58, in an
Ivy League tilt at Levien Gym.
Matt Sullivan recorded a team-high 17 points to go with six steals and four
rebounds for the Bears (12-14, 6-6 Ivy League). Sean McGonagill added 14
points and six boards as Brown moved to a three-game winning streak.
For the Lions (12-14, 4-8), Brian Barbour chipped in a game-high 18 points
with five steals. Maodo Lo contributed 14 points as Columbia had a two-game
winning streak snapped.
In the first half, Brown was held to a mere 6-of-17 from the floor. Columbia
made 12-of-24 field goal attempts including 3-of-6 beyond the arc, en route to
the 31-20 advantage at the break
In the second half, Columbia was held to 8-of-20 on field goal attempts. Brown
knocked down 14-of-22 from the floor including 3-of-6 from long range.
Columbia's Alex Rosenberg tied the game up at 58-58 with three seconds
remaining on a pair of free-throws but Halpern's buzzer beater followed,
giving Brown the three-point victory.
Both teams made 20 shots from the floor, Columbia was 6-of-16 from long-range
and 12-of-20 from the foul-line. Brown was 5-of-12 beyond the arc and made 16-
of-26 free throw attempts on the night.
