Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - Deion Taylor had 12 points in 17 minutes off the
bench, and the Richmond Spiders used a staunch defensive effort to take down
the Fordham Rams, 72-55, in Atlantic 10 Conference play from Rose Hill Gym.
Kendall Anthony and Terry Allen each scored 11 points, and Darien Brothers had
10 to help the Spiders (16-11, 6-6 A-10) notch their first conference road win
of the season. The victory was also their sixth straight in the head-to-head
series.
Mandell Thomas had a game-high 17 points and Jeffrey Short added 12 off the
bench for the Rams (6-22, 2-11), who suffered their eighth consecutive loss.
The Spiders had nearly as many 3-pointers (five) in the first half as Fordham
had field goals (six), as Richmond grabbed a 31-23 halftime lead.
The Spiders tacked on five more treys in the second stanza and shot a healthy
55.6 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes to win handily.
Richmond had 17 assists on 24 field goals for the game. Defensively, the
Spiders held Fordham to 31.5-percent shooting from the floor.
