Baton Rouge, LA (Sports Network) - In a SEC showdown, Charles Carmouche scored
21 points to lead the LSU Tigers to an 80-68 win over the Mississippi
State Bulldogs at the Maravich Center.
Carmouche was 8-of-11 from the field and knocked down 5-of-8 3-point attempts
for LSU (15-8, 6-6 SEC), which earned its second consecutive win and fourth in
the last five games. Andrew Del Piero added 13 points and three blocks while
Anthony Hickey, Andre Stringer, and Johnny O'Bryant III scored 10 points each.
O'Bryant III also had 11 rebounds and eight assists.
The Bulldogs (7-17, 2-10) suffered their 10th loss in a row despite a 25-point
game from Craig Sword. Gavin Ware scored 10 points with seven rebounds while
Colin Borchert had 11 points, four steals and three blocks. Mississippi State
is in the midst of its worst streak in 26 years.
LSU shot 58.6 percent from the floor in the first half and led 41-28 at
halftime.
The Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 40-39 in the second half, shooting 53.8
percent from the field, but were unable to overcome the first half deficit.
The Tigers took the season sweep of the Bulldogs this season with this win
following a much closer 69-68 win earlier this month.
