Williamsburg, VA (Sports Network) - Marcus Thornton pumped in a game-high 25
points as the William & Mary Tribe defeated the UNC Wilmington Seahawks,
92-86, in Colonial Athletic Association action at Kaplan Arena.
Brandon Britt contributed 22 points and six assists for the Tribe (10-14, 4-9
CAA). Kyle Gaillard was two rebounds shy of a double-double after adding 10
points. Tim Rusthoven tallied 13 points as William & Mary snapped a two-game
losing streak.
For the Seahawks (9-16, 4-9), Keith Rendleman recorded a double-double with a
team-high 24 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Chris Dixon contributed 19
points, six boards, and six assists. Craig Ponder added 16 points and Tanner
Milson chipped in 13 points as UNCW lost for the fifth time in its last six
games.
William & Mary knocked down 55.6 percent from the floor including 8-of-14
beyond the arc before the break. It also held UNCW to a mere 4-of-11 from
long-range during that span to take a 51-35 advantage into the halftime break.
After the intermission, UNCW made 20-of-39 from the floor, but the Tribe
continued their impressive shooting making 13-of-19 from the floor including
4-of-7 beyond the arc to survive the rally and collect the six-point victory.
William & Mary connected on 60.9 percent of its attempts from the floor, 12-
of-21 beyond the arc, and 24-of-27 from the foul line on the night.
