Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Jarnell Stokes recorded a double-double with
17 points and 10 rebounds as the Tennessee Volunteers defeated the Vanderbilt
Commodores, 58-46, in Southeastern Conference action at Memorial Gymnasium.
Jordan McRae also contributed a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards
for the Volunteers (13-10, 5-6 SEC). Trae Golden added 12 points and seven
rebounds as Tennessee won a second consecutive game.
For the Commodores (9-14, 3-8), Kedren Johnson contributed 11 points, four
boards, and four assists. Kevin Bright chipped in three points and 11 rebounds
for Vanderbilt which has lost five of its last six games.
Tennessee outscored Vanderbilt, 11-3, in points off turnovers and, 8-2, in
second chance points, en route to a 40-28 advantage at the half.
Both teams failed to make a single 3-pointer in the second half and each shot
below 35 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes.
Vanderbilt was outrebounded, 38-28, and was held to a mere 3-of-14 from long
range on the night.
