St. Bonaventure, NY (Sports Network) - Ramon Galloway finished with 23 points,
six rebounds, and five assists as the La Salle Explorers held on for a 69-66
overtime victory over the St. Bonaventure Bonnies in an Atlantic 10 Conference
tilt at the Reilly Center.
Tyrone Garland added 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor off the
bench for La Salle (17-6, 7-3 A-10) as it picked up its third consecutive win.
Steve Zack led the Explorers on the glass with 10 boards.
Eric Mosley paced SBU (11-12, 4-6) with 15 points. Youssou Ndoye tallied 14
points and nine rebounds while Chris Johnson and Demitrius Conger scored 13
and 11 points, respectively. The loss was the second in three games for the
Bonnies.
D.J. Peterson drained a 3-pointer to put La Salle up 3-0 just over a minute
after tip-off and the visitors went on to lead by as many as 16 before going
into the intermission on top, 38-27. The Bonnies trailed at the break after
they hit just 40 percent of their field goal tries and went 0-of-5 from beyond
the arc. The Explorers drained 7-of-14 from distance in the opening 20 minutes
to help build their early edge on the scoreboard.
SBU charged back after the break and took a 43-42 lead at the 12:24 mark of
the second period on a 3-pointer by Mosley. The Explorers then went on a 15-3
run to go ahead by double-digits once again, but the hosts refused to go away.
After the Bonnies evened the score at 59 with 1:51 left in regulation, Zack
converted a pair of attempts at the free-throw line to give La Salle a narrow,
two-point lead. Mosley tied it up with a jumper with 24 seconds showing on
the clock and Duren turned it over on the Explorers' final possession of the
second half.
Charlon Kloof tied it up once again in the overtime by putting in a layup at
the 1:33 mark of the extra session. Neither side sank another field goal
attempt the rest of the way, but the Explorers went 4-of-5 at the charity
stripe to seal the deal.
The Explorers held a 34-31 edge in the rebounding battle and forced SBU into
20 turnovers, which they turned into 21 points.
