Clarksville, TN (Sports Network) - JJ Mann posted 26 points for the Belmont
Bruins, who claimed a 78-65 win over the Governors of Austin Peay in a Ohio
Valley Conference clash at the Dunn Center.
Mann shot 10-of-17 from the field, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range, while
tallying three steals for the Bruins (20-5, 11-1 OVC). Ian Clark added 25
points and knocked down five 3-pointers while managing five assists and four
steals.
The Governors (5-20, 1-10) were led by Travis Betran, who scored 22 points
on 7-of-11 from the floor and 4-of-6 from long-range. Chris Freeman
contributed 10 points off the bench, and Chris Horton pulled down 10
rebounds with four blocks as Austin Peay suffered its eighth straight loss.
Austin Peay had 11 turnovers in the first half and shot 40.0 percent from the
field, including just 1-of-6 from 3-point range. Belmont led 36-21 at the
break.
The Governors shot 52.0 percent from the floor in the second half and
outscored the Bruins, 44-42, but they were unable to overcome their first half
deficit.
The Bruins earned their edge beyond the arc, making 14-of-34 from 3-point
range.
