Fairfax, VA (Sports Network) - Jarvis Threatt scored 20 points and grabbed 10
rebounds for his first career double-double, as the Delaware Blue Hens
outlasted the George Mason Patriots, 79-72, in a Colonial Athletic Association
tilt at the Patriot Center.
Devon Saddler led all scorers with 22 points to go along with eight rebounds
for the Blue Hens (12-12, 7-4 CAA), while Josh Brinkley finished with 17
points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor.
Jonathan Arledge had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Patriots (14-10,
7-5), who had won the previous 10 meetings at home against UD. Erik Copes also
recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards, while Bryon Allen
(eight assists) and Sherrod Wright scored 12 apiece in the loss.
UD made seven of its first nine shots from the floor to take an early 17-11
lead, but the Blue Hens cooled off considerably as they went on to shoot just
34.5 percent in the opening frame. Still, they led, 33-29, at the break.
The Blue Hens put together a 12-4 spurt early in the second stanza to go up,
45-33. The Patriots answered right back with a 10-3 run to make it a five-
point game, but they would get no closer the rest of the way as the Blue Hens
shot 56 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes.
UD converted 25-of-30 free throws for the game to outscore George Mason by 16
at the charity stripe and earn its first victory in Fairfax since the 2001-02
season.
