Davidson, NC (Sports Network) - Jake Cohen logged his first double-double of
the season with 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Davidson Wildcats past
the Western Carolina Catamounts, 73-59, in a Southern Conference bout at Belk
Arena.
Cohen shot 9-of-16 from the field and added two blocks and two steals for
Davidson (16-7, 11-1 SoCon), which extended its season-high winning streak to
seven games. JP Kuhlman chipped in 13 points and seven assists, Nik Cochran
scored 10 points, and Chris Czerapowicz grabbed 12 rebounds.
For WCU (8-15, 5-6), Trey Sumler and Tawaski King each netted 16 points, while
Brandon Boggs had 12 points to go with five turnovers. The Catamounts have
lost four in a row.
Davidson shot less than 40 percent from the field in the first half but still
took a comfortable 38-22 lead into the break by putting together an impressive
12-of-14 showing from the foul line. WCU made only 30.3 percent of its field
goal attempts in the opening frame.
The Wildcats' lead never dipped below double-digits after halftime.
Davidson finished 20-of-24 from the free-throw line, while WCU shot only 5-
of-8 from the stripe.
