Dayton, OH (Sports Network) - Kevin Dillard scored a game-high 23 points as
the Dayton Flyers defeated the Saint Joseph's Hawks, 60-54, in Atlantic 10
action at UD Arena.
Dyshawn Pierre had 10 points and Devin Oliver collected a game-high 12
rebounds for Dayton (13-9, 3-5 A-10) which had lost back-to-back games
entering play.
Carl Jones had 12 points and C.J. Aiken added 11 for Saint Joseph's (13-8,
4-4) which had a three-game winning streak snapped.
At halftime Saint Joseph's had a slim 27-26 lead by shooting 44 percent from
the field including 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. Dayton stayed close shooting
42.9 percent and 2-of-6 from 3-point range.
An 11-2 run midway through the second half turned a seven-point deficit into a
four-point lead for Dayton with 6:34 remaining. The teams would trade leads
three more times before the Flyers separated themselves by hitting 4-of-4
shots from the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds while the Hawks missed
their last four shots from the field.
The game featured eight times and 13 lead changes. Dayton had a 35-27 edge in
rebounds.
