Lexington, KY (Sports Network) - Julius Mays paced five teammates in double
figures with 15 points as the Kentucky Wildcats took down the South Carolina
Gamecocks, 77-55, in an SEC bout at Rupp Arena.
Nerlens Noel tallied 10 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks for Kentucky
(16-6, 7-2 SEC), which has won four straight games. Archie Goodwin and Willie-
Cauley Stein scored 13 points apiece, while Ryan Harrow netted 12 points on a
perfect 6-of-6 from the field.
For South Carolina (12-10, 2-7), Michael Carrera was the only player in
double-digits with 18 points. The Gamecocks are now losers of three in a row
for the first time all season.
Kentucky put together lofty percentages from both the field (.682) and the
foul line (.800) in the first half, as it took a comfortable 45-24 lead into
intermission.
The Wildcats' hot shooting continued in the second half, making 12-of-22 from
the floor (.545), and their lead was never in doubt.
South Carolina didn't give itself much of a chance in this one, as it shot
less than 29 percent from the field on the evening.
