Riverdale, NY (Sports Network) - Rhamel Brown finished with 21 points, 10
rebounds, and seven blocks as the Manhattan Jaspers defeated the Saint Peter's
Peacocks in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matchup at Draddy Gymnasium.
Donovan Kates and RaShawn Stores added 10 points each for Manhattan (7-15, 5-7
MAAC).
Desi Washington tallied 16 points to lead SPC (7-15, 2-10), while Yvon Raymond
contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in the Peacocks' ninth
loss in 10 games.
SPC took a 24-20 lead into halftime after it knocked down 37 percent of its
field goal attempts and limited the Jaspers to 25 percent shooting in the
opening 20 minutes.
The Peacocks cooled off to convert only 37 percent of their attempts from the
floor in the second period. Manhattan went 7-of-17 from the field and knocked
down 21-of-23 at the charity stripe after the break to earn its second win in
three games.
The Jaspers outscored the visitors, 30-7, at the free-throw line to overcome
their 19 turnovers, which SPC converted into 15 points.
