El Paso, TX (Sports Network) - Led by 14 points from McKenzie Moore, the
Texas-El Paso Miners downed the Tulane Green Wave, 62-50 in a Conference USA
battle at the Don Haskins Center.
For the Miners (12-8, 5-2 C-USA), Julian Washburn added 12 points and Konner
Tucker chipped in with 11. Jacques Streeter dished out nine assists against
just one turnover.
No player for the Green Wave (14-8, 2-5) finished in double figures. Jordan
Callahan led the team with nine points.
The Miners shot 42.3 percent from the field and knocked down 4-of-10 from 3-
point range in the first half. They closed the period with a 14-5 run to take
to a 34-19 halftime lead. The Green Wave made just 34.8 percent of their field
goal tries and missed all five of their 3-point attempts in the half.
After the break, the Miners came out strong, draining 57.1 percent of their
field goal tries. The Green Wave improved to 45.8 percent and 2-of-7 from 3-
point distance. The Miners extended their lead to 21 in the first four minutes
of the second half, and led by as many as 23 before a late Tulane rush cut
the margin down to 12 in the final three minutes.
The Green Wave had the edge on points in the paint, 28-20. The teams finished
an identical 10-of-14 at the free-throw line.
