Cheney, WA (Sports Network) - Mathias Ward and Will Cherry both tallied 13
points as the Montana Grizzlies continued their hot play with a 65-46 win over
the Eastern Washington Eagles in Big Sky Conference action at Reese Court.
Mike Weisner added 11 points and Keron DeShields 10 for the Grizzlies (16-4,
12-0 Big Sky) as they ran their conference win streak to 23 in a row and their
overall win streak this season to 12 straight, the latter being second only to
Akron (13) in Division I.
The Eagles (6-16, 4-8) were led by Thomas Reuter with 11 points as the team
had a two-game win streak snapped.
EWU opened the meeting on an 11-2 run, but the hosts made a total of just
seven field goals in the first half which allowed Montana to post a 30-18
advantage at the break.
After shooting only 41.9 percent from the floor through the first 20 minutes,
the Grizzlies jumped to 52.4 percent in order to cruise to the 19-point
victory.
The Eagles finished the night with almost as many turnovers (16) as made field
goals (18).
