Fort Collins, CO (Sports Network) - Pierce Hornung recorded a double-double
with 12 points as the Colorado State Rams cruised by the Wyoming Cowboys,
65-46, in a Mountain West Conference bout at Moby Arena.
Hornung recorded 11 rebounds in the Rams' (18-4, 5-2 MWC) victory. Dorian
Green was one assist shy of a double-double with a team-high 15 points. Wes
Eikmeier and Daniel Bejarano added 13 points a piece. Colton Iverson was one
rebound shy of a double-double with 12 points as Colorado State won a third
game in a row.
For the Cowboys (15-6, 2-6), Derrious Gilmore recorded a game-high 26 points.
Derek Cooke Jr. added 11 boards as Wyoming lost a fourth consecutive game.
Colorado State knocked down 47.8 from the floor including 3-of-6 from beyond
the arc, while holding the visitors to a mere 3-of-11 from long-range.
Colorado controlled the boards 22-9, en route to a 30-21 advantage at the
break.
Wyoming was held to only 25.8 percent from the floor and 4-of-16 from beyond
the arc in the second half. Colorado State made 45.5 percent from the floor
and 15-of-17 free throws, leading to the 19-point victory.
Colorado State dominated the boards, 42-28, and held Wyoming to a mere
17-of-57 from the floor on the night.
