Starkville, MS (Sports Network) - A jumper by Anthony Hickey with three
seconds left lifted the LSU Tigers in a come from behind victory of the
Mississippi State Bulldogs, 69-68, in SEC play at Humphrey Coliseum.
Hickey contributed 12 points and Johnny O'Bryant III recorded a double-double
with 12 points and 12 rebounds in the Tigers' (12-7, 3-5 SEC) victory. Shavon
Coleman added 11 points and Charles Carmouche chipped in 10, as LSU won a
second consecutive game.
For the Bulldogs (7-13, 2-6), Gavin Ware recorded a game-high 14 points to go
with seven boards. Trivante Bloodman added 12 points and Craig Sword added 11
points. Both Colin Borchert and Roquez Johnson contributed 10 points and six
rebounds as Mississippi State fell for the sixth consecutive game.
Mississippi State made 57.1 percent from the floor including 3-of-7 from
beyond the arc in the first half. LSU was held to 27.3 percent from the floor
and 2-of-14 from long-range as the Bulldogs took a 40-26 advantage at the
break.
LSU corrected its play, making 16-of-30 from the floor and it held the
Bulldogs to 38.5 percent made field goals including 0-of-5 made 3-pointers
in the second half.
LSU controlled second chance points, 20-11. The Tigers made 15-of-18 from
the foul line while Mississippi State struggled making 13-of-27 free throw
attempts on the night.
