Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Jordan Heath was three blocks shy of a triple-
double, scoring 21 points, as the Canisius Golden Griffins defeated the
Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds, 91-79, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play
at the Koessler Center.
Heath recorded 11 rebounds in the victory for the Golden Griffins (14-8, 7-4
MAAC). Chris Manhertz posted 11 points and eight rebounds, Billy Baron chipped
in 16 points and seven assists, while Isaac Sosa added 19 points and Harold
Washington recorded 13 as Canisius won for the fourth time in the last five
games.
For the Greyhounds (15-8, 6-4) Robert Olson scored a game-high 27 points to go
with six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Erik Etherly and Dylon
Cormier scored 13 points apiece as Loyola-Maryland lost a second consecutive
game.
Canisius made 63 percent from the floor, including 6-of-10 from long range,
while limiting the visitors to a mere 2-of-9 from beyond the arc in the first
half which led to a 43-31 lead at the break for the hosts.
Both teams scored 48 points in the second half. Canisius continued it's
impressive shooting, making 57.1 percent from the floor and 7-of-9 from long
range.
The Golden Griffins controlled the boards, 36-25, which made it easier to
overcome 16 turnovers on the night.
