Dayton, OH (Sports Network) - Josh Benson led five players in double figures
with 17 points to push the Dayton Flyers to a 72-56 win over the Duquesne
Dukes in an Atlantic 10 clash at UD Arena.
Dyshawn Pierre registered 13 points and six assists while Kevin Dillard, Vee
Sanford and Jalen Robinson scored 10 points each as Dayton (12-7, 2-3 A-10)
won its second straight contest after dropping its previous three.
Jeremiah Jones and Quevyn Winters each scored 16 points to pace Duquesne
(7-13, 0-6), which has not won a game since Dec. 19. Marvin Binney added
13 points off the bench.
Seven different Flyers registered points in the first 20 minutes while Dayton
held Duquesne to 31 percent shooting to take a 30-24 advantage into the break.
The Dukes continued to struggle shooting in the second half while Dayton
knocked down shots at a 50 percent clip. Benson made all five of his shots as
he scored 12 of his 17 points in the final 20 minutes.
Duquesne was dealt the loss despite its bench outscoring the Dayton reserves,
34-16.
