Terre Haute, IN (Sports Network) - Manny Arop scored 19 points for the Indiana
State Sycamores who earned a 72-62 Missouri Valley Conference win over the
Evansville Purple Aces at the Hulman Center.
Arop was 7-of-9 from the field for the Sycamores (12-6, 5-2 MVC), who have won
three of their last four games. Jake Odum added 17 points and a game-high six
assists while shooting 4-of-5 from the field and 9-of-12 from the free-throw
line.
Colt Ryan scored 19 points with five assists and two steals for the Purple
Aces (11-8, 4-3), who have now lost two in a row. Troy Taylor grabbed seven
rebounds and dealt out five assists, Ned Cox managed five rebounds while both
players scored 11 points each.
Evansville led 32-26 at halftime after shooting 54.2 percent from the field in
the opening 20 minutes
In the second half, the Sycamores rallied back by hitting on 59.1 percent of
their attempts from the floor including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc, to
outscore the Purple Aces, 46-30, in the stanza.
Despite the loss, Evansville held a 36-29 edge in the rebounding battle and
committed only nine turnovers.
