Athens, OH (Sports Network) - Reggie Keely led the way with 24 points as the
Ohio University Bobcats defeated the Toledo Rockets, 76-67, in a Mid-American
Conference battle at the Convocation Center.
Keely shot a perfect 9-of-9 from the field for the Bobcats (13-5, 4-0 MAC),
who have won five in a row. Walter Offutt added 14 points, while Ivo Baltic
and Ricardo Johnson each finished with 13 points.
Matt Smith led the Rockets (6-9, 2-2) with 16 points, while Rian Pearson
scored 14 points and Dominique Buckley chipped in with 13 points. Reese
Holliday pulled down 10 rebounds for the visitors, and Julius Brown had nine
points and nine assists.
Toledo started the game hot from the field, connecting on 57.7 percent of
its field goals in the first half as it took a 36-33 advantage into the break.
Ohio shot 46.7 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes but just 2-
of-11 from 3-point distance.
Ohio took control after intermission, scoring the first seven points of the
second half to take the lead. It would never relinquish that advantage down
the stretch, as it finished the game shooting 50.9 percent from the floor.
The Bobcats outscored the Rockets from the line, 18-10, and won the turnover
battle by a 14-6 margin.
