Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Bandja Sy led the way with a game-high 25
points, as the New Mexico State Aggies downed the Texas-San Antonio
Roadrunners, 82-62, in Western Athletic Conference action at the Pan American
Center.
For the Aggies, (7-8, 1-2 WAC) Sim Bhullar added 15 points and Daniel Mullings
added 14 points.
Michael Hale III and Kannon Burrage each scored 14 points to lead the
Roadrunners (4-9, 0-3), while Jeromie Hill chipped in with 13 points.
New Mexico State started the game red-hot, connecting on 62.1 percent of its
field goal attempts, though the Aggies did miss all four of their 3-point
attempts in the half, as they went into intermission up 38-32. UTSA shot 46.2
percent from the field and hit on 3-of-9 from three-point range in the first
half.
The Aggies opened the second half with a 12-0 run, pushing their lead to
50-32. They were even better from the floor after halftime, knocking down 77.3
percent of their field goal attempts. The Roadrunners could not keep up and
shot just 36.4 percent from the field after the break. New Mexico State
pushed their lead to as many as 32 in the second half, as they cruised to the
easy victory.
The Aggies blocked 11 shots and dished out 21 assists. They also dominated in
the paint, outscoring the Roadrunners 48-18.
