Niagara, NY (Sports Network) - Ameen Tanksley posted a double-double with 22
points and 12 rebounds to lead the Niagara Purple Eagles over the Marist Red
Foxes, 94-72, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tilt at the Gallagher
Center.
For the Purple Eagles (6-7, 2-1 MAAC), Juan'ya Green added 21 points, Antoine
Mason finished with 17 points and Malcolm Lemmons chipped in with 11 points.
Chavaughn Lewis led the Red Foxes (4-10, 1-2) with 17 points, Dorvell Carter
scored 11 points, Adam Kemp scored 10 points and Isaiah Morton dished out
eight assists.
Niagara scored the first 13 points of the first half as it took a commanding
51-30 lead into the break. The Purple Eagles shot 54.1 percent from the field
in the half, including 5-of-10 from beyond the 3-point arc. Marist made
just 38.7 percent of its field goal attempts and only 3-of-13 from 3-
point range to open the contest.
After halftime, the Purple Eagles continued to shoot the ball well, connecting
on 50 percent from the floor. The Red Foxes picked up their game after the
break, shooting 48.4 percent from the field, but were never able to make up
any ground. Niagara pushed its lead to as many as 30 in the second half as
the Purple Eagles cruised to the easy victory.
The Purple Eagles forced 20 turnovers and converted them into 32 points.
Niagara outscored Marist in the paint, 50-36.
