Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Sheldon Jeter poured in a career-high 14
points to lead the Vanderbilt Commodores to a 64-50 non-conference win over
the William & Mary Tribe at Memorial Gym.
Jeter, whose previous career-high was just six points, shot 6-of-7 from the
field in 21 minutes off the bench for Vanderbilt (6-6), outscoring the Tribe's
bench by himself. Rod Odom and Kedren Johnson each scored 12 points.
William & Mary (7-4) was led by Marcus Thornton, who scored 14 points,
although he shot just 5-of-16 from the field and committed five turnovers. Tim
Rusthoven netted 11 points while Matt Rum added 10. Kyle Gaillard had a game-
high 10 boards.
Vanderbilt led 26-21 at intermission despite hitting just 2-of-11 from
behind the arc. The home team used a 7-0 run late in the half to build its
lead.
The Tribe battled back and tied the score, 31-31, with 15:23 remaining before
Jeter re-entered the game and fueled a 16-6 Vanderbilt spurt as it pulled
away.
The Commodores snapped a two-game losing skid with the win and they improve to
5-0 all-time versus the Tribe.
