Reed, the Utah State Aggies were able to hold off the Southern Illinois
Salukis, 70-58, to close out the World Vision Basketball Challenge at Dee Glen
Smith Spectrum.
Reed shot 7-of-12 from the field and 7-of-8 from the foul line for Utah State
(9-1), which won all three of its contests in the tournament to extend its
winning streak to eight games. Preston Medlin added 16 points and six assists
for the host team.
For SIU (7-4), Desmar Jackson scored 29 points, just two shy of his career-
high, while adding six rebounds and four steals. Jeff Early added 10 points
for the Salukis.
SIU shot an impressive 47.8 percent from the floor in the first half, but the
Aggies were even better at 52.2 percent, as they took a 35-27 lead at
intermission.
Utah State improved to a lofty 70.6 percent from the field after halftime as
it led the game wire-to-wire.
The Aggies converted 14 SIU turnovers in 21 points.
