Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Eric Moreland and Roberto Nelson each scored
20 points to lead the Oregon State Beavers to a 86-79 win over the San Diego
Toreros as part of the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic at MGM Grand Garden
Arena.
Moreland added 11 rebounds and three blocks for Oregon State (9-2), while
Devon Collier chipped in 18 points from off the bench. Joe Burton had 13
points and six rebounds for the Beavers, who have won five straight games.
For San Diego (6-7), Chris Manresa tallied 18 points and eight boards. Ken
Rancifer scored 14 points, Johnny Dee netted 12 points, and Chris Anderson
logged 11 points, eight assists, and six rebounds in the setback.
Oregon State got out to a comfortable 44-29 lead at intermission behind 58.6
percent shooting in the first half.
The Toreros chipped away at the lead after the break, even getting to within
two, 74-72, with under four minutes to play, but they could not complete the
comeback attempt as the Beavers answered with a 7-0 run to pull away.
San Diego was an impressive 17-of-20 from the foul line, but Oregon State also
helped itself from the stripe by making 24-of-32.
