Mobile, AL (Sports Network) - Augustine Rubit registered a double-double with
game highs of 19 points and 10 rebounds as he helped lead the South Alabama
Jaguars to a 77-62 win over the Trojans of Arkansas-Little Rock in Sun Belt
Conference action at the Mitchell Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Jaguars (6-5, 3-0 Sun Belt) were
Barrington Stevens with 17 points, Mychal Ammons 15 and Xavier Roberson with
13 points in the team's second straight win.
The Trojans (8-6, 2-1) were paced by John Gillon who came off the bench to
record 14 points, while Kemy Osse and Will Neighbour contributed 11 points
apiece as the team bowed for the second straight time and the third in the
last four outings.
UALR opened the meeting on a 7-1 run, but the squad ended up shooting just 2-
of-7 from behind the 3-point line and 6-of-11 at the charity stripe over the
first 20 minutes of action, which allowed USA to take a 39-30 advantage at the
break.
In the second half the Trojans again had their issues at the free-throw line
(9-of-15) which kept them from mounting a serious comeback bid.
In addition to shooting 8-of-18 beyond the arc in the meeting, the Jags also
forced 21 turnovers, which they traded in for 27 points.
