Lubbock, TX (Sports Network) - Jonathan Gilling and Jahii Carson both scored
18 points to lead the Arizona State Sun Devils to a 77-62 win over the Texas
Tech Red Raiders in non-conference play at United Spirit Arena.
All six of Gilling's field goals came from behind the 3-point line as the Sun
Devils (10-2) made good on an impressive 14-of-27 beyond the arc overall as
they won their second in a row and the sixth in the last seven outings.
Carrick Felix checked in with 13 points and nine rebounds, followed by Evan
Gordon with 12 points as he knocked down 4-of-7 on the perimeter.
The Red Raiders (5-4) were paced by Jaye Crockett who came up a rebound shy of
a double-double as he tallied 11 points, while Josh Gray and Jordan Tolbert
chipped in 10 points apiece in their third consecutive setback.
ASU, which led by a 42-36 score at the break, converted a sizzling 10-of-17
beyond the arc in the first half, compared to Tech which hit on 3-of-5 from
the outside.
In the second half the Red Raiders tried desperately their close the gap, but
the hosts missed all eight of their 3-point tries as they suffered the double-
digit loss.
In addition to shooting only 23.1 percent from the perimeter in the meeting,
Texas Tech also hurt itself with 16 turnovers.
