St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Mike McCall scored 14 points, leading four
players in double figures, as the Saint Louis Billikens easily disposed of
visiting Loyola Marymount, 65-44, in non-conference play at Chaifetz Arena.
Jordair Jett and Jake Barnett both added 11 points, the latter clearing seven
rebounds off the bench, as the Billikens (8-3) notched their fifth win in a
row. Dwayne Evans came up a rebound shy of a double-double as he tallied 10
points.
The Lions (5-6) were paced by Anthony Ireland who scored a game-high 16 points
and also pulled down eight boards, but the team still suffered a second
straight setback. Alex Osborne chipped in 11 points, while Ashley Hamilton
pulled down eight rebounds, but finished with a mere four points as he shot
only 1-of-10 from the floor.
SLU opened the meeting on a 10-2 run and never looked back, holding the Lions
to a mere eight field goals in the first half, en route to a 37-18 advantage
at the break.
In the second half LMU again had trouble hitting the mark, converting just
nine shots from the floor, which allowed the Billikens to cruise to the 21-
point win.
Loyola, which turned the ball over 15 times, shot a mere 2-of-14 beyond the
arc on the day.
