Harrisonburg, VA (Sports Network) - Kendall Anthony nailed a free throw with
five seconds left in overtime to lift the Richmond Spiders to an 83-82 win
over the James Madison Dukes in a non-conference thriller at the Convocation
Center.
Darien Brothers paced Richmond (8-2) with 18 points. Derrick Williams added 17
points and seven rebounds, Cedrick Lindsay netted 13 points and handed out 11
assists, Anthony had 11 points and Greg Robbins chipped in 10 points. The
Spiders have now won four straight.
Devon Moore led the way for James Madison (3-6) with 19 points. Andrey Semenov
netted 18 points before fouling out, A,.J. Davis had 13 points and Ron Curry
tacked on 12 points.
The two squads were tied 30-30 at halftime. James Madison hit 12-of-27 shots
from the floor while Richmond connected on 10-of-20. Richmond kept it close by
nailing five 3-pointers.
With the Dukes down by one late, Curry hit a 3-pointer to push James Madison
ahead 73-71 with 32 seconds remaining. Lindsay was fouled by Semenov with
three seconds left and hit the ensuing free throws to send the game to
overtime.
Moore scored four points in the final minute to knot the game at 82-82 with 20
seconds left. Anthony was then fouled and after missing his first free throw
attempt made the second. Davis got a last second 3-point shot off but it was
off the mark giving Richmond the win.
The game featured 13 ties and 13 lead changes.
