Davis, CA (Sports Network) - James Kinney scored a game-high 27 points as the
San Jose State Spartans posted a 73-64 win over the UC Davis Aggies in non-
conference play at the Pavilion.
Also scoring in double figures for the Spartans (4-3) were D.J. Brown and
Chris Cunningham with 12 points apiece, the latter clearing a game-high 10
rebounds as well as the team won for the fourth time in the last five outings.
The Aggies (1-5) were led by Ryan Sypkens with 18 points, converting half of
his 10 three-point tries, while Corey Hawkins accounted for 16 points and five
assists as the team's losing streak reached three in a row. Josh Ritchart
tacked on 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench and J.T. Adenrele
contributed 10 points.
UCD led by as many as nine points midway through the first half, but the team
ended up shooting only 33.3 percent from the floor in the period which left
the Aggies with a 35-31 deficit at the break.
In the second half SJSU's advantage extended to nine points, even as the team
made only 7-of-14 at the free-throw line, on the way to the road victory.
The Spartans won the battle of the boards, 42-32, and forced the hosts into 15
turnovers.
