Cedar City, UT (Sports Network) - Johnny Dee scored 17 points to lead the San
Diego Toreros to a 67-53 win over the Southern Utah Thunderbirds in non-
conference action at Centrum Arena.
Chris Anderson scored 13 points and handed out six assists for San Diego (4-5)
which snapped a three-game losing streak.
Damion Heuir had 17 points and eight rebounds for Southern Utah (2-7) and
Jackson Stevenett scored 13 points and collected eight rebounds of his own.
San Diego shot 44.4 percent from the field and nailed 6-of-9 shots from beyond
the arc to take a commanding 36-22 lead at intermission. Southern Utah hit
just 34.6 percent of its shots including a 1-of-8 showing from 3-point range.
The Toreros cooled to 36.4 percent shooting in the second frame but outscored
the Thunderbirds 14-7 from the free throw line to secure the win.
San Diego had a 21-9 edge on points from 3-point range and a 20-10 advantage
from the charity stripe. Southern Utah lost despite owning a 43-31 edge on
the boards.
