Tempe, AZ (Sports Network) - Evan Gordon scored a game-high 29 points as the
Arizona State Sun Devils posted a 90-70 win over the Sacramento State Hornets
in non-conference play at Wells Fargo Arena.
Gordon converted 5-of-9 shots behind the three-point line and 8-of-9 at the
charity stripe for the Sun Devils (6-1) as they posted their second straight
victory. Also having a big game for the hosts was Carrick Felix who registered
a double-double with 21 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, adding five
assists and a pair of blocked shots as well. Jahii Carson chipped in 12 points
in the victory.
The Hornets (5-2) were led by John Dickson with 12 points and seven boards,
followed by Dylan Garrity with 11 points and the trio of Joe Eberhard, Konner
Veteto and Mikh McKinney with 10 points apiece as they had a two-game win
streak snapped.
Sacramento State was held to just 34.5 percent shooting from the floor,
including just 2-of-10 behind the three-point line, which left the squad
trailing by 16 at the break, 46-30.
In the second half ASU continued to pull away on the strength of 6-of-16
shooting beyond the arc, en route to the 20-point triumph.
The Sun Devils won the battle of the boards, 47-36, while limiting the
visitors to 40.0 percent shooting from the field on the night.
