Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Talib Zanna led four players in double
figures with 16 points as the Pittsburgh Panthers cruised by the visiting
Detroit Titans, 74-61, at the Petersen Events Center.
Zanna was 10-of-11 at the free-throw line and accounted for five
rebounds in the victory for Pittsburgh (7-1). Tray Woodall scored 14 points,
while Lamar Patterson and James Robinson joined in with 12 and 11 points,
respectively, in the team's third straight win.
For the Titans (2-4), Ray McCallum scored a game-high 24 points to go with
seven rebounds. Jason Calliste added 12 points and Evan Bruinsma contributed
14 points off the bench in the setback, the third in a row for the program.
Despite Pittsburgh starting out on a 6-0 run, the Titans used a 17-4 run of
their own later in the period, leading to a 37-29 advantage at the end of
the first half.
The Panthers came out shooting in the second half, hitting 63.6 percent from
the field, while at the same time limiting the visitors to just 3-of-12
success on the perimeter in the 13-point decision.
Pittsburgh was 8-of-17 from three-point range in the outing, while the Titans
made only 9-of-26 (.346) beyond the arc.
