Logan, UT (Sports Network) - Preston Medlin scored a game-high 17 points as
the Utah State Aggies pulled away in the second half to dismiss the Weber
State Wildcats, 65-55, in non-conference action at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Medlin shot 7-of-12 from the field and added nine rebounds, four assists, and
three steals for Utah State (3-1). Jarred Shaw logged a double-double with 16
points and 12 rebounds, and Ben Clifford tallied 11 points from off the bench.
For Weber State (1-2), Davion Berry was the only player to score in double
digits with 11 points.
The teams played to a 28-28 tie in the first half. Utah State shot 50 percent
from the field compared to 42.9 percent for Weber State, but the Wildcats
drained a pair of three-pointers while the Aggies were shutout from beyond the
arc.
Utah State took the lead down the stretch thanks in large part to making 20-
of-27 foul shots in the second half. Weber State fell behind with a dreadful
shooting performance after halftime (6-of-25).
The game consisted of 16 ties and 24 lead changes.
The Aggies held a commanding 43-30 edge on the boards.
