Saint Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Dwayne Evans scored 14 points and pulled
down six rebounds to help lead the Saint Louis Billikens to a 61-51 win over
the Southern Illinois Salukis in a non-conference matchup at Chaifetz Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Billikens (3-2) was Rob Loe who tallied
12 points, hitting all three of his attempts from three-point range.
The Salukis (3-1) were paced by Jeff Early who recorded a game-high 15 points,
while Dantiel Daniels and Desmar Jackson chipped in with 12 and 10 points,
respectively.
SIU fell behind immediately and never recovered, shooting a woeful 8-of-33
from the floor in the first half and missing the one and only attempt at the
free-throw line, en route to a 28-17 deficit at the break.
In the second half Saint Louis put the game away with 55.0 percent accuracy
from the floor and 8-of-10 at the charity stripe.
The Billikens, who led by as many as 17 points in the second half, held the
visitors to only 36.5 percent accuracy from the field.
