Puerto Vallarta, MX (Sports Network) - Dylan Fritsch came off the bench to
score 14 points to push the Jacksonville Dolphins as the took down the
Milwaukee Panthers, 71-66, in the consolation round of the Hoops for Hope
Classic in Puerto Vallarta.
Jarvis Haywood added 13 points for the Dolphins (3-4), who ended their brief
two-game losing streak with the win. Glenn Powell contributed 10 points and
nine rebounds for Jacksonville.
Jordan Aaron paced Milwaukee (2-3) with 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting, but the
junior point guard also committed a game-high six turnovers. Demetrius Harris
recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Thierno Niang
and James Haarsma netted 10 points each.
The Panthers opened up the game on an 11-2 run, but Jacksonville outscored
them 35-12 over the rest of the first half to take a 37-23 lead into the
intermission. The Dolphins' reserves scored 11 points in the opening period to
help build the double-digit advantage.
Milwaukee chipped away at the deficit and cut it to three points on multiple
occasions, but Jacksonville answered each time to keep the Panthers at bay.
The Dolphins hung on for the win despite shooting just 28 percent from the
field after halftime.
Jacksonville's aggressive defense forced Milwaukee into 20 turnovers, which it
converted into 21 points.
