Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - C.J. Wilcox scored a game-high 22 points and
Aziz N'Diaye recorded a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds as the
Washington Huskies made easy work of the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds, 85-63, as
apart of the Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic at Alaska Airlines Arena.
Wilcox connected on 9-of-13 field goals, including four three-pointers, and
N'Diaye swatted away three blocks for Washington (1-0). Abdul Gaddy put up 17
points and Scott Suggs added 15 points.
For Loyola (1-1), Dylon Cormier tallied 19 points and seven rebounds while
Erik Etherly had 15 points, eight boards, and three blocks. Robert Olson
scored 12 points but did so on just 4-of-14 from the floor.
Washington led for most of the first half, but it committed 11 turnovers in
the opening frame, which allowed Loyola to stay within striking distance. The
Huskies took a 33-31 lead into halftime.
The Huskies came out firing in the second half. They drained 15-of-24 field
goals after intermission, including 7-of-11 from three-point range, to pull
away from the Greyhounds.
Washington hit 22-of-30 free throws, while Loyola went just 13-of-24 from the
foul line.
