Carbondale, IL (Sports Network) - Dantiel Daniels recorded a double-double
with 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Southern Illinois Salukis defeated the
Bradley Braves 77-60 in Missouri Valley Conference action at SIU Arena.
Mamadou Seck narrowly missed a double-double as he scored 15 points and
grabbed nine rebounds for SIU (7-14, 4-6 MVC). Justin Bocot was a spark off
the bench with 11 points and Jeff Early netted 10 points as the Salukis
snapped their three-game losing streak.
Taylor Brown paced Bradley (6-16, 1-9) with a game-high 21 points. Dyricus
Simms-Edwards added 13 points and Jake Eastman pulled down eight boards. The
Braves' loss was their second in a row and 11th in 12 games.
SIU started out the game with some energy as it led 17-6 at the midway point
of the opening period. The Salukis took a 40-24 advantage into the
intermission after they connected on 56.7 percent of their field goals in the
first half. Bradley was limited to 31 percent shooting from the floor in the
first frame.
The Braves heated up to 42.3 percent shooting and attempted nine more field
goals in the second half, but SIU shot 64.7 percent from the floor in the
final 20 minutes to remain in front by a comfortable double-digit lead for the
entire period.
SIU's reserves outscored the Braves' bench 27-7 in the contest.
