Olean, NY (Sports Network) - Andrew Nicholson scored 19 points and pulled down
nine rebounds as St. Bonaventure crushed the Fordham Rams, 95-51, in Atlantic
10 Conference play at the Reilly Center.
Also scoring in double figures for the Bonnies (10-7, 3-2 A-10) were Da'Quan
Cook with 18 points, to go along with eight rebounds, followed by Matthew
Wright and Jordan Gathers with 13 and 12 points, respectively, as the team won
for the second time in the last three outings.
The Rams (8-10, 1-4) were paced by Bryan Smith who tallied 13 points on just
4-of-13 shooting from the floor. Ryan Canty came off the bench to record seven
points and a game-high 10 rebounds as they suffered their fourth loss in the
last five games.
The Bonnies scored the first points of the afternoon and never looked back,
shooting not only 15-of-25 from the floor, but also 15-of-16 at the free-throw
line in posting a commanding 49-18 advantage at the break. Fordham was held to
a total of just six field goals on 31 attempts.
In the second half the hosts cooled to 47.1 percent from the field, but still
the lead was stretched to as many as 47 points with just under seven minutes
remaining, en route to the 44-point victory.
The Bonnies converted all but two of their 26 free-throw attempts and also
dominated the glass with a 45-27 rebounding advantage over the visitors.
