Murfreesboro, TN (Sports Network) - Nick Paulos scored 25 points in 24 minutes
to lead the Spartans of UNC Greensboro to a 72-60 victory over Towson in the
EA Sports Maui Invitational on the mainland at the Murphy Center.
Paulos was 9-of-15 from the floor, including 6-of-11 from three-point range.
Kyle Randall and Trevis Simpson each scored 10 points in support for UNCG
(2-3) in the win. Randall also had a game-high six assists.
The Tigers (0-4) fell short despite a strong 17-point, seven-rebound effort
from Robert Nwankwo. Deon Jones had 15 points and seven rebounds and Marcus
Damas scored 10 points in the setback.
The game was tied 21-21 at halftime despite Towson shooting 53.3 percent from
the field to UNCG's 26.5.
The Spartans ran away with it in the final 20 minutes behind 50 percent
shooting from the floor.
Towson committed 28 turnovers which UNCG converted into 31 points. The
Spartans attempted 26 more shots than their opponent. In addition, UNCG's
bench outscored that of Towson, 40-5.
