COLLEGE PARK (WUSA9) -- Maryland men's basketball assistant coach Dalonte Hill has taken a leave of absence, effective immediately, the athletic department announced.

Maryland court records indicate that Hill was arrested and charged with a DUI on Sunday.

In 2012, Hill was charged with a DUI, and was suspended for two games. He was also charged with a DUI in 2008 while he was an assistant at Kansas State.

In a statement released by the athletic department, Hill said, "At this time it is in my best interest to take a leave of absence from the Maryland basketball program and focus my attention on some personal matters."

Hill remains on the staff and there is no timetable for his return to the team.

In the athletic department release, head coach Mark Turgeon said, "We will support him through this process. want him to focus on his personal life. Basketball is secondary at this point. His primary focus needs to be on his health and well-being."

Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson said the school has encouraged Hill to take the time he needs to address his personal issues according to the release.
