RICHMOND, Va. (WUSA) -- Let me start off this piece saying going to a Washington Kastles tennis game is a perfect little place to enjoy a summer evening in D.C. And head coach Murphy Jensen is one of my favorite sports personalities in town -- check out this interview he did with Dave Owens, talking about peeing his pants.
With that being said, many people in the D.C. area still are unaware the Kastles exist. I know, I know, how could that possibly be? This is a team who set the WORLD RECORD for most wins in a row, 34, defying odds set by the 1971-1972 Los Angeles Lakers.
So I became curious: how many Redskins could identify the sport the Washington Kastles play. My question wasn't meant to trick the players at all; I even gave them a hint saying the Kastles are fresh off a championship, their fourth in five years. The Redskins did their best Nats impression, going 0-for-8 on this question.
Evan Royster - "I have no idea," (he grew up in Chantilly, Va.)
Will Montgomery - "Baseball?" (he grew up in Clifton, Va.)
Trent Williams - "Lacrosse?"
Fred Davis - "I know this...Lacrosse?" I tell him tennis. "Oh yeah, I've been there! I like that stadium, it's fun."
Josh Wilson - "I'm going to go with ... baseball?"
Jawan Jamison - "Hockey?"
Bacarri Rambo - "Nope, sorry."
Darrel Young - "Hmm, I want to get this right. Hmmmm. Baseball?"
