Campus Correspondents Earn College Scholarships

Andrew Feather of Bishop McNamara High School earned a $5,000 Toyota Let's Go Places Scholarship on Friday.

WASHINGTON, (WUSA 9) -- On Friday, WUSA 9's Campus Correspondents, our high school sports contributors, were awarded college scholarships for their outstanding work covering their high school's sports programs this year.

Murugi Thande, a senior from North Point High School in Waldorf, Maryland received a $2,000 Toyota Let's Go Places Scholarship.

Ian Criman, a senior from Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax, Virginia, was awarded a $3,000 scholarship and Andrew Feather of Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, Maryland received a $5,000 Let's Go Places Scholarship from Toyota.

Murugi, who's trademark was her outstanding videography, will be attending American University next year to study film and media arts.

Ian, who submitted weekly highlights from his school's football and basketball teams is going to George Mason in the fall, where he plans to major in communications with a concentration in journalism.

Andrew, who has also been a contributor to the Washington Post and DC SportsFan, edited and compiled postgame interviews with football coaches and highlights into complete game recaps. Andrew will be attending Elon next year, where he hopes to get involved with the campus newspaper, TV and radio station.

No matter where their studies take them, we are sure to see these young journalists doing big things in the future!
