Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Jrue Holiday poured in a career-high 33 points and handed out 13 assists on Sunday night, as the Philadelphia 76ers outlasted the Phoenix Suns, 104-101, at Wells Fargo Center.

Evan Turner chipped in 16 points and nine rebounds and Lavoy Allen added 11 points and six boards for the Sixers, who had lost two straight.

"Over the last six games I think our offense has been better," Sixers coach Doug Collins said of his team's recent play. "We're getting a little sharper offensively."

Michael Beasley led the Suns with 21 points, but missed a potential game-tying layup with under five seconds remaining. Marcin Gortat finished with 18 points and seven rebounds in the setback, snapping Phoenix's two-game win streak.

Philadelphia led, 98-91, with just under four minutes remaining after a Holiday three-point play, but Beasley netted four straight in a 6-0 Phoenix run to pull the visitors within 98-97 with 1:06 left.

The lead was back to one with under 20 seconds remaining after a Markieff Morris layup before Holiday split a pair at the free throw line to make it a 103-101 contest with 14.8 ticks on the clock.

Phoenix went to Beasley on the ensuing possession and the Phoenix swingman beat his defender to the basket. However, Beasley's layup missed long off the backboard and Turner secured the rebound.

"Yeah, a layup," Suns coach Alvin Gentry said of Beasley's final attempt. "We just have to get it in the basket. I don't know how it came out really, but it's exactly what we were trying to do."

Turner hit 1-of-2 at the other end to leave the door ajar, but Jared Dudley's 3/4-court heave was off the mark and the Sixers escaped with the victory.

Holiday's career night got off to a hot start, as the Philadelphia point guard netted eight points and dished out four assists to help the Sixers take a 23-20 edge after one.

Neither team lead by more than five in a tightly contested second quarter, but the Sixers shot slightly better from the field and carried a slim 46-41 advantage into the break.

Nick Young's 3-pointer with less than a minute to go in the third quarter capped a 9-0 Philadelphia run to give the home team an 80-70 lead with 46.9 seconds remaining in the stanza.

The Suns countered with a surge of their own, as Goran Dragic buried a triple at the other end to spark an 11-0 Phoenix run, spanning the third and fourth quarters to give the visitors an 81-80 edge early in the fourth.

After the teams exchanged buckets, Thaddeus Young buried a hook shot in the lane to send the Sixers on a 7-0 sprint and restore the home team's cushion.

GAME NOTES:
Philadelphia has won the last four meetings with Phoenix ... The Suns are 1-5 on the road this season ... Dragic finished with 10 points for the Suns ... The game featured 16 lead changes and 10 ties.
