Former H.D. Woodson head football coach Greg Fuller after the Warriors' 44-12 victory over Dunbar in the 2010 Turkey Bowl.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -- H.D. Woodson head football coach Greg Fuller was fired by D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) on Tuesday.
Director of the DCPS Press Office, Melissa Salmanowitz, confirmed that the Warriors (2-5) will be required to forfeit one of their victories this season, but couldn't go into more detail about Fuller's termination.
DCPS' statement reads: "DCPS does not comment on the specifics of personnel actions. H.D. Woodson Principal Richard Jackson and DCPS Athletics Department are actively pursuing next steps and we will issue a statement when those decisions are final."
The Washington Post's Steve Yanda reported Wednesday that Fuller was fired for using an ineligible player and that his termination is related to the school district's mandate that Woodson forfeit a game.
In 2010, Fuller led the Warriors to their third consecutive DCIAA title -- Woodson's eleventh overall -- he was also named Coach of the Year by the Washington Redskins. Fuller had helmed Woodson's program since 1999.
