CHANTILLY, Va. (WUSA) -- At 6-foot-2, 314 pounds, Westfield offensive lineman Joon Yeo is built for football. Today, he's drawing college interest from schools like Temple, but four years ago he knew very little about the game.

"I did not like the idea of putting on pads and hitting people," remembered Yeo, who was born in Korea. Growing up, he wasn't exposed to the sport because it's simply not part of his family's culture.

"American football -- we know what it is -- but they don't play it there," said Yeo.

Yeo's first year on the squad was tough.

"He truly did not understand the verbiage, the language, what was expected of him ... you had to take this kind of big, teddy bear body and turn him into a productive offensive lineman at the high school level," said Bulldogs head coach Kyle Simmons.

Yeo didn't give up. He learned the game and has proven to be an integral member of the Bulldogs' defensive line. Westfield is now 4-0. The Bulldogs will take on Fairfax Friday night.
