WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- I know this headline reads a little morbid, but it was hilarious when it actually happened Wednesday morning.

Every Wednesday, Nats manager Davey Johnson calls into the Sports Junkies program on 106.7 The Fan. And in the two weeks since the segment has begun, Johnson has been one of the show's more entertaining guests in a long time.

For those familiar with the Junkies, the guys used to do some whacky bits back when they were in their 30's -- especially host John "Cakes" Auville, who once laid in a coffin for 48 hours.

Someone apparently tipped off Johnson on the info, because he started the phone interview like this:

Davey: "Before we start I gotta' ask Cakes a question. I heard you made some money by laying in a coffin?

Cakes: "I did. Yes, that's true. (laughter)"

Davey: "I have to ask...was the lid closed?"

Cakes: "The lid was closed for 48 hours. I had a breathing hole on each end."

Davey: "Was it alright? I'm probably getting close to that time!"

I've tweeted it and written about it, but here it is again: Davey Johnson's confidence in his team has spread throughout this town. It will be a serious downer if this team doesn't advance to the World Series.
